Renovation and extension of a 1960's house. The existing kitchen had a small window onto the garden. The was no connection between the inside and outside which the client asked to be addressed in the brief. A shallow extension was added across the width of the house, deep enough to create both a dining and seated area adjacent to the kitchen and not too deep so as to consume much of the garden.
